• Receive certain income-related benefits (such as Universal Credit, Pension Credit, or Income Support)

It is a simple 4-Step Process

1. Check Eligibility
   Complete a quick eligibility check online or by phone. You’ll need to provide basic information about your household, benefits received, and property type.
2. Free Home Survey
   If you qualify, an approved energy assessor will visit your home to carry out a free home survey. This helps determine which energy-saving measures are suitable for your home.
3. Approval & Grant Confirmation
   Once the survey is complete, your application will be submitted for approval. You’ll receive confirmation of the grant and details of the upgrades available to you.
4. Installation
   Qualified installers will carry out the energy efficiency improvements at little or no cost to you. Most installations are completed within a few days.

No — only certified and approved installers can carry out work under the Free Boiler Scheme (ECO4). This ensures all installations meet government safety and efficiency standards.

To be eligible, installers must have:

• TrustMark Registration
  This is the UK government’s official quality mark for tradespeople. If a company isn’t TrustMark-registered, they can’t carry out ECO4 work.
• PAS 2030 Certification
  This British Standard ensures installers carry out energy efficiency improvements safely and properly. It’s a legal requirement for all ECO4 installers.
• NICEIC or Equivalent Accreditation (for Electrical Work)
  For work involving electrics — such as heat pumps or new heating systems — the company must be registered with a body like NICEIC to ensure electrical safety and compliance.
